Investigators are searching for an armed robber who targeted a Chesterfield Township gas station, police said Monday.
At approximately 4 a.m. Sunday, the suspect walked into the Speedway gas station at 26115 21 Mile near Interstate 94. He selected food items from the station and approached the counter with money in his hand. As the clerk began to ring him up, he pulled out a black handgun and demanded money from the register, according to township Detective Sgt. Deron Myers.
The clerk complied with the thief's demands and he then fled behind the gas station with an undisclosed amount of cash. Township police and the Macomb County Sheriff's K-9 Unit searched for the suspect but were unable to find him. They surmised he escaped the area in a waiting car, Myers said.
The suspect is described to be in his early to mid-20s, six-feet tall with a stocky build. He had facial hair and a pierced lip. He wore a black hooded coat with a gray sweatshirt underneath and black gloves, police said.
Police said Monday morning they are also continuing to search for another armed robber who held up a couple early Nov. 7 in the 23 Mile and Gratiot area.
Anyone with information that could assist in their investigations, is asked to call 586-949-2450 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

More than likely he probably is from the area. a good size blown up picture enhanced could help maybe. Hopefully Chesterfield PD will have the funding next time since the police millage didn't pass. As of January 1st, 2013 the Sheriff will be taking over New Haven PD. These are the other areas they patrol. Washington, Bruce, Armada, Richmond, Lenox, Ray, Harrison, and Macomb Townships. Crime is up in our town and now there could be layoffs of Officers. So you never know we might be contracting with Macomb county sheriff. I see no reason to since they are the county and can patrol anywhere for the most part.
