Biggby Opening Pushed Back Again

The coffee shop on Green Street in New Baltimore is now slated to open in late June or early July.

Biggby Coffee in New Baltimore plans to offer speedy service to customers seeking regular joe or speciality drinks.

But opening the franchise store on Green Street near Washington has been a slow grind.

The loan and appraisal process as well as required Small Business Administration paperwork has the coffee shop now rescheduled to open in summer.

Owner Jim Dehem described the latest delay Monday as "more than frustrating."

"I thought we were going to be open last October. It just keeps going on and on," said Dehem, adding the SBA documents need to be signed every 90 days to stay current.

He said he expects to close on the property no later than May and hopes to open doors in late June or early July.

Despite the delays, Biggby Coffee in New Baltimore is looking forward to serving the community inside the coffee shop and at the drive-thru window.

"There's a lot of interest from what I hear," he said. "This is not just a dead project."

I am now beginning to doubt if 'we' will ever see the opening of this coffee shop. I believe it is now almost a year from their 'first' opening day and still no coffee. The owners continue to donate and contribute to the city. I hope we wake up and smell the coffee very soon. It is actually kinda sad...

Seems to ever REALLY take charge and get things done, typical city government ,that's why I am afraid NB will never be the city it can be
