Metro Detroit motorists are feeling less pain at the pump early this week.
The average price hovered Monday around $3.46 in the Detroit region, with the lowest amounts around $3.48 in the Chesterfield Township and New Baltimore area. The drop was apparent Sunday with average prices in the region at $3.45. Southeast Michigan gas prices remained cheaper Monday than the national average, which was about $3.67, according to DetroitGasBuddy.com.
The current price in the Detroit area is down from last week when average prices were approximately $3.68 in the region. Last month, the prices were about $3.94. One year ago, gas prices were even lower than they are today, at $3.36, according to the site.
Some of the cheapest prices Monday in the Chesterfield area were:
- $3.48 at Meijer at 36865 26 Mile near Frost.
- $3.48 at Speedy Q at 37750 26 Mile near County Line.
- $3.49 at Marathon at 50900 Donner Road near 23 Mile.
- $3.49 at Marathon at 50901 Gratiot near 23 Mile.
