Gratiot and 21 Mile Named Most Dangerous Intersection in Chesterfield

Check out SEMCOG's list of the top 10 most dangerous intersections in Chesterfield Township.

 

With an annual average of about 37 crashes, the Gratiot and 21 Mile Road intersection is the most dangerous in Chesterfield Township, according to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments' data from 2007-11.

The second highest-crash intersection is at 23 Mile Road and Gratiot, with an average of 32 yearly crashes. The 23 Mile and Interstate 94 ramp comes in third with 27, and 23 Mile and Seaden Drive is fourth with 17, according to the SEMCOG statistics.

23 mile and Gratiot used to be the most dangerous. So obviously that has changed.

I believe one of the reasons is you can still turn right on red

People disregard the red light both directions constantly at 23/I-94 exit. The township could make a ton posting a couple traffic enforcement cars there once in a while. Not to mention lower the amount of crashes.
