A Macomb Township woman is the face of a new television ad encouraging Michigan residents to "Vote Yes to Collective Bargaining" in November.
Auto worker Stacie Steward is front and center in a new ad paid for by Protect Our Jobs, a union-backed committee supporting a proposal on the November ballot that would protect collective bargaining rights in the Michigan Constitution.
"We have paid the government ahead of schedule," Steward says in the ad. "We have all pulled together in tough times. Collective bargaining is what got us here, management and workers negotiating.It's not just about my job, it's about this plant, the whole community. Protect collective bargaining."
The state Board of State Canvassers certified the group's proposal for the November ballot on Tuesday, but the state Supreme Court could still stop the issue from reaching the polls should opposition group Citizens Protecting Michigan's Constitution file an appeal to the court.
Protect Our Jobs has received some $8 million in funding from state and national unions, and collected almost 700,000 signatures to place the issue on the ballot, according to MLive.com.

The real problem with Public Unions is that the Union leaders during tough and lean times when the tax payers are tapped out themselves will "only" except lay-offs as a means to balance their towns, cities, states governments.
This places the taxpayers who are the providers and funders of these public union employees through tax collections which brings risk and safety issues when the fireman and police are laid off instead of taking less in wages and/or benefits to balance their cities or townships budgets. Putting the homeowners/taxpayers at risk by the Unions "only lay-off policies" is wrong and immoral.
Union leaders to their constituents: "Keep them dues coming"!
