Man Allegedly Attempts to Assault Pizza Delivery Woman in Chesterfield
The suspect who was staying at a motel in the township was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore.
A 26-year-old man tried to assault a female pizza delivery driver Sunday night in Chesterfield Township, police said Wednesday.
The 19-year-old woman was delivering pizza to someone at the Chesterfield Motor Inn at 50900 Gratiot around 7:30 p.m. when a tenant from a different unit approached her. That tenant, Coreal Quinn, made sexually explicit statements to her, township Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said in a news release.
The woman told police that she attempted to ignore him as she delivered the pizza, but he grabbed her while she was walking back to her car. He then started to drag her to a nearby room, saying, "Do you think I’m trying to rape you? Because I’m not. But I’d like to," police said.
She was able to break free from him and run back to her vehicle. She then drove back to her employer and notified authorities, Myers said.
Quinn, who denied any involvement in the attack, was placed under arrest at the motel. The suspect had outstanding arrest warrants for unrelated crimes, Myers said.
Quinn was charged with third-degree attempted criminal sexual conduct, which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment upon conviction. He was arraigned at 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore and lodged in Macomb County Jail in lieu of a $50,000-cash bond, police said.
