Man Sought in Chesterfield Stranger-Danger Incident Approached Girls at U of M
The 69-year-old Wisconsin man was escorted off the Ann Arbor campus; he is not facing criminal charges for the township or campus incidents.
A Wisconsin man sought in a possible stranger-danger incident Wednesday night in Chesterfield Township has been identified and is not slated to face criminal charges in the community, township police said Friday.
University of Michigan's Department of Public Safety helped the township identify the 69-year-old Germantown man.
The man was escorted off the Ann Arbor campus Thursday evening after he walked up to teenage girls and asked them "creepy" questions, according to Public Safety Information Officer Diane Brown.
"It was reported that he had approached some young high school students on our campus," Brown said Friday.
He was not charged with any crimes in the campus incident.
Chesterfield police say they do not plan to charge him with any crimes for approaching boys, ages 9 and 11, in the township. At that time, he asked one of the children whether he was a boy or a girl. When a concerned parent confronted the man, he drove off. Township police determined he does own a 2004 Ford Explorer that he drove Wednesday evening in the 21 Mile and Interestate 94 area.
