The Miss Chesterfield Pageant, slated to take place Friday night at Anchor Bay Middle School South, has been canceled.
Four girls applied for this year’s pageant. However, the event could not continue as scheduled because some contestants did not attend the required interview with the judges last Thursday.
Though the show will not go on, the 2011 Miss Chesterfield has still been crowned. This year’s winner is Jennifer Jean Gerlando, a student at Anchor Bay High School.
Gerlando, 17, was selected for the title based on her promotion of Chesterfield Township through her submitted written essay, as well as for her outstanding personality. She is a member of her school’s varsity dance squad and track team. She will soon attend college and continue her dreams of becoming a professional dancer, auditioning for Automotion, dance team of the Detroit Pistons in the near future.
Gerlando will throw out the first pitch Saturday morning at Pollard Park on the opening day of the Chesterfield Township Parks and Recreation baseball season. She will also receive her official crown and sash, presented by the 2010 Miss Chesterfield, Erin Healy, at the Township's school board meeting on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
The 2011 Miss Chesterfield Pageant event will not be rescheduled this year.
