North Gratiot Cruise Gears Up for Sunday
Map your route for the Sunday event in Chesterfield Township.
The North Gratiot Cruise gets into gear this Sunday in Chesterfield Township.
A parade of classic cars is expected to leave the Walmart plaza, kicking off the cruise noon to 6 p.m. Sunday from Hall to 23 Mile on Gratiot. The headquarters for the event is inside the former Kmart parking lot on Gratiot south of 23 Mile, where a band is expected to perform.
"We hope to continue this on a year-to-year basis," Township Treasurer Linda Hartman said earlier this week. "We hope to see a lot of people there."
Organizers aim to get about 20,000 attendees and roughly $30,000 in proceeds. The donations are expected to go toward Chesterfield Township police to support the K-9 unit and the Macomb County Sheriffs Office K-9 unit. The cruise did not take place in 2010 or 2011 due to lack of sponsorships and manpower to run the event.

There needs to be an understanding among cruisers that they remain in the far right lane while cruising. City police need to take a more aggressive approach to prevent offending other residents and drivers who use Gratiot.

There are several articles about the North Gratiot Cruise (this is a good thing). Is it possible to consolidate the pictures? Thanks
