Simple Adventures kayak rental is a new business on Lake St. Clair.

Entrepreneur Becky Quinn has turned a hobby into a growing business on Lake St. Clair.

Quinn, 27, of Harrison Township, the founder of Simple Adventures, started renting kayaks about four years ago. What started a small business with two kayaks, has grown to more than 30 kayaks that are transported to launch locations at Chapaton St. Clair Shores, Lake St. Clair Metropark and the Grosse Pointes.

Currently the paddlesport rental and delivery company is part-time job for Quinn, who works full-time as the director of training and education for Northwestern Mutual.

To help serve the needs of customers, she has a team of about six part-time employees during the weekdays. When the weekend arrives, she is right there helping deliver kayaks and run the business.

Her business could continue to see growth with more than 30 kayaks were rented for the recent Shores-Pointes Adventure Triathlon.

"I never thought it would turn into this," said Quinn.

Oh Yeah, great cardio and a way to see the shoreline. Get in touch with the water in a low cost rental and then step into a kayak of your own. When are you going again Ed?

Hey thanks for posting this. Oddly enough I was just coming online to find a place to rent a kayak, didn't know we had a place in the Shores.
