If your idea of the diamond life means baseball, you're in luck.
New Baltimore Parks and Recreation is now signing up youngsters for baseball.
The T-Ball division, for ages 5-6, costs $40 and includes a shirt and hat. Pitching Machine, for ages 7-8; Player Pitch-Nationals, ages 9-10; Player Pitch-Majors, ages 11-12; and Player Pitch-Seniors, for ages 13-15, all cost $60 apiece and each includes shirt, pants, hat and socks. (Age is as of May 1, 2012.)
Sign up at the New Baltimore Recreation Center from 8 a.m.-noon and 3-9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration ends March 9. When you register, be sure to bring a copy of your child's birth certificate.
If the child played in the league in 2011, he may register online so long as his information is on file at the Recreation Department. To register online, visit www.newbaltimorerecreation.com and click on the "baseball" tab. You must also call the department at 586-725-0291 to verify your child's data is on file to complete the process.
If you miss the March 9 deadline, you may be able register late — if openings are available — from 12:30-4 p.m. Saturday, March 10. Late T-Ball fee is $55, and all other divisions run $75.
Coaches are also needed for all leagues. If you're interested in signing up, show up during registration times to inquire.
The player draft and coaches meeting, which is mandatory, will be held in late March, where rules and procedures will be discussed.
Picture day is May 12, and the season begins May 21 for all divisions, except for seniors which begins in June.
