Search On for Driver of Hit-and-Run Accident That Killed Washington Township Woman

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office has identified the body of a woman found Sunday near the Washington Mobile Home Park as that of Sandra Lee Loepp, 37, of Washington Township.

Macomb County sheriff's detectives are searching for the driver believed to have hit and killed a Washington Township woman early Sunday morning in the area of Van Dyke and 28 Mile Road.

The woman's body was found by a passing motorist at approximately 8:20 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Washington Mobile Home Park office.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Sandra Lee Loepp, of Washington Township, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives say Loepp left Santino’s Bar at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday and was walking northbound on either the shoulder or the roadway of Old Van Dyke when she was struck and dragged by an unknown vehicle.

Investigators say her body was probably dislodged from the vehicle by the person who hit her.

Detectives are searching for a vehicle of unknown make and model that will likely will have damage to the front end as well as the passenger side.

Following an autopsy, Macomb County Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz confirmed that the victim's death was caused by the accident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 586-307-9412 or 1-800-SPEAKUP (Crime Stoppers).

Most likely another drinking and driving tragedy. I doubt 50% of the people who drive home from bars after midnight are sober.

Drunk drivers kill far more people than guns! Why isn't anyone talking about getting rid of them?

Sandra was a beautiful woman, on the inside as well as the outside. I was her mother-in-law when she was married to my son, Danny. Sandy always cared about people in her life and wanted peace among them all. God knows we will miss her and we pray for her children that God will comfort them as they move forward from this terrible tragedy.
