State Rep. Andrea LaFontaine participated Feb. 28 in a polar bear plunge in Lansing for charity.

Despite the frosty February weather, state lawmakers plunged into a pool of freezing water in Lansing for a good cause.

State Rep. Andrea LaFontaine, who represents Chesterfield Township, New Baltimore and surrounding communities, plunged into the water Feb. 28 during the Second Annual Legislative Polar Plunge at the State Capitol. She was among more than a dozen lawmakers who participated in the event that raised more than $30,000 for the Special Olympics of Michigan, according to her office.
