UPDATE: Chesterfield Motorcyclist Dies From Crash Injuries
Chesterfield Township police said Monday the 24-year-old man died Saturday night in a Mount Clemens hospital.
A 24-year-old Chesterfield Township man, who was badly injured in a Thursday evening crash on Jefferson, has died from his injuries, police said Monday.
Benjamin Schulenburg passed away Saturday evening in McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens, according to Detective Sgt. Deron Myers of Chesterfield Township Police Department.
According to township police, witnesses reported Schulenburg was heading south on Jefferson around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when a 59-year-old Chesterfield woman turned left in front of him from northbound Jefferson onto Au Sable. He then lost control and fell off his bike, sliding southbound on Jefferson.
"Accident investigators at the scene believe the man struck his helmet on the wheel of the woman’s vehicle as he slid on the pavement past her," Myers stated Friday.
Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Police said the accident remains under investigation and it's possible the Chesterfield woman could face undetermined charges, pending the outcome of the investigation.
