Viewfinder: Ste. Claire Voyageurs in Chesterfield
History comes to life this weekend as group re-enacts the lifestyle of Michigan's French settlers at Chesterfield Historical Village.
A group of children sits down to check out the different types of wooden toys children used to play with while a nearby campfire sends fragrant wisps of smoke their way. The exhibit is part of a re-enactment of the lifestyle of Michigan’s French settlers by the Ste. Claire Voyageurs at Chesterfield Historical Village.

The Ste. Claire Voyageurs have set up camp for the weekend at the Chesterfield Historical Village.
Families were out and about Saturday to see the French settler way of life during Michigan's early years. Children could play old-fashioned games, see how food was prepared, watch a blacksmith work and learn about the area's history during this public event, which will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $1 per person or $2 per family.
