Visions for Vacancies: What Do You Want to Replace Former Fashion Bug Store?

Patch asks readers to share their hopes for vacancies in Chesterfield and New Baltimore.

In our Visions for Vacancies feature, readers become pseudo city planners by offering an opportunity to share dreams for empty storefronts or buildings.

During this segment we ask: What would you like to see replace the defunct Fashion Bug store on 23 Mile in New Baltimore?

The store isn't the only business to go dark in that plaza. Readers have previously weighed in on what they'd like to occupy the old Sheena's Marketplace next door.

Meanwhile, Blockbuster remains open in the New Baltimore plaza. That store--along with the Blockbuster at 21 Mile and Card--will be among the few existing ones in the area. The Blockbuster stores on Garfield in Clinton Township and on Hayes in Shelby Township are slated to close in early April.

Tell us in the comments' section what you'd like to see in the former Fashion Bug store. Read other Visions for Vacancies here.

I would like to see Trader Joe's or Hiller's markets take over both spaces left by Sheena's and Fashion Bug. Laurie Huff

A fruit market, such as Randazzos or Vince & Joes, would be great.

I think a future topic for "Visions" is what the hell do you do with the Chesterfield Motor Inn...such an eyesore and a little scary...

Regarding the Chesterfield Motor Inn-what are the options? I didn't think there was anything that could be done.

Love to see Randazzo, I drive to the Hayes or Garfield stores. Grillo's could be so much better. They invested in a new store which is very nice. I like their meats and fresh baked breads, but their produce is poor quality and very little selection. Too bad as people want a good fruit market in the area.

I agree with Dan, above, something must be done with the Chesterfield Motor Inn. It seems when there is a crime committed utimately it leads to the Inn. At a great shopping corner, for the township, it's a bad place and has been for a long time.

TRADER JOES, DEFINETLY. SOME YOUNG MOMS MENTIONNED A NEED FOR A PLACE FOR TEENS TO GO, LIKE AN ARCADE MAYBE IN FASHION BUGS SPACE. AND ITS TOO BAD GRILLOS DOESN'T DO A BETTER JOB OF CARRYING BASICS THAT ARE FRESH FOR SENIORS LIVING BEHIND THEM WHO DEPEND ON GRILLOS AS MANY DON'T DRIVE.

I like the fruit market idea in the sheens location. As for the rest of the plaza, I like the idea of a Game Center or whirlyball court. Something unique to attract people to this area and for the teens.

A Fruit Market like Nino Salvagios or randazzo. would be great since there is not a fruit market in Chesterfield or New Baltimore.
Second choice would be Whole Foods or Costco.

I agree with some of the other comments as well. A Planet fitness, Nino's or Trader Joe's. Maybe even a really good Mexican restaurant, like El Charro's. It's a shame how vacant that strip mall has become. AND I miss my Fashion Bug!!

I'd like to see a restaurant that's a little bit different for this area, such as Russian, Polish, or Danish food. Cuban or French would be good also. So would Hungarian or Czech.

Does anyone know what is going on with the land on the north side of 23 mile next to the old Michael's dealership?
