What Should be Chesterfield Township's Official Flower?
Chesterfield Township's Spirit Contest calls for children in the community, ages 8-15, to write an essay in 50 words or less stating why their flower should be picked.
Chesterfield Township is thinking spring.
Its inaugural Spirit Contest is asking young residents to pick their sweetest bloom and write an essay why it should be named the township's official flower.
The flowers must be perennials native to southeastern Michigan. Ideas may be found at http://www.nativeplant.com.
Essays will be accepted at the Parks and Recreation Department from now to May 1. The Beautification Committee is to select the winner who will receive a certificate and $25. The official flower will then be planted around township grounds.
