FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 17, 2013 New Baltimore, MI – the New Baltimore DDA will present the official streetscape dedication and ribbon cutting for Washington Street taking place at the intersection of Washington and Alfred Streets on Saturday November 30, 2013 at 10:00am. These events will also kick off the nationally advertised event “Small Business Saturday” which will feature local shopping and activities.
Downtown New Baltimore will be a flurry of activity as the Mayor of New Baltimore, John Dupray, along with the DDA officially opens the streets for this Shop Small Event. Many shops and restaurants will have extended hours and specials. Additionally, there will be an Indoor Farmers Market at the Recreation Center as well as a Holiday Bazaar and Book Sale at MacDonald Public Library. Detailed maps will be available at all downtown businesses the week prior and the day of the event.
The New Baltimore DDA is proud to present this event as the culmination of many years of planning for an improved downtown. DDA Chairperson Mike Wojciechowski states: “The overall goal of the DDA is to sustain and cultivate the business environment. In order to do this the City needs to be aesthetically pleasing in order to attract businesses and the customers alike. I felt the DDA needed to lead by example and move forward with a project that would be the foundation for generations to come. This project stayed on target because of the dedication, teamwork, and personal efforts well above and beyond expected of many people who are all passionate about the success of New Baltimore.”
The event will be held at the City of New Baltimore Christmas Tree in downtown. The DDA, city officials, volunteers and business owners look forward to celebrating Small Business Saturday with the community.
