VIDEO: History and Ghost Stories Lure Listeners to Candle Walk

The New Baltimore Historical Society's annual event took place Friday evening downtown.

Walking through the streets of downtown New Baltimore on a chilly December night is a real treat for anyone wishing to discover the history (and hauntings) of this little town by the water.

Led by New Baltimore Historical Society President Rich Gonyeau, over 20 participants braved the cold air, with candle in hand, as Gonyeau spoke of the way the town was in the late 1800s. on Washington Street was the headquarters for the event.

Though rich, old-time hotels and dozens of saloons downtown have since been turned into new businesses, the people who once inhabited and worked in these spaces . According to Gonyeau, many ghost sightings and similar apparitions have been spotted and felt in locations such as , the , and more. Though many buildings and supposedly haunted homes have since been torn down, the ghosts have found new places to relocate nearby, he told the crowd.
