Cleverly crafted, heartwarming mother-daughter reads are at MacDonald Public Library in New Baltimore.

There are many available books at to help you enjoy spring. You can find books with information on how to set up a bird feeder, plant a vegetable or container garden and start new projects.

Also, for your reading pleasure this May, listed here is a small sampling of the many cleverly crafted, heartwarming, whimsical mother and daughter stories awaiting your arrival:

Adult Fiction:

A Turn in the Road by Debbie Macomber is the story of a whimsical road trip taken by three women friends: Bethanne, her former mother-in-law Ruth and her daughter Hannah. Each woman has her own reasons for making the trip. Their carefully planned route takes a couple of detours and going off the map helps these women solve some relationship issues and have the time of their lives. What makes this story worth the read are the elements of betrayal, forgiveness and happiness.

Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story by Sue Monk Kidd is the dual memoir of noted author Sue Monk Kidd and her daughter Ann Kidd Taylor who travel together through France and Greece. This is a terrific mother-daughter story about relationships and spiritual growth that will echo in your thoughts long after you’ve finished reading it.

Adult–Teen Fiction:

Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman is the story of 12-year-old CeeCee, caretaker for her mentally ill mother who is killed suddenly in an accident and whose father has been largely absent in her life.  After her mother’s death, CeeCee is taken in by her great aunt Tootie and moves to Savannah for the summer where her life is quickly touched by Tootie and her two best friends.  If you are a fan of the book The Secret Life of Bees by  Sue Monk Kidd you will love the story of CeeCee as you quickly enter her new world rich with colorful characters and the consistency of the three strong women’s relationships.  Readers will find this to be a quick read, both sad and funny, with a wide appeal.

Adult–Teen Non-fiction:

The Best Advice I Ever Got by Katie Couric  is an inspirational book where the rich and famous share their knowledge and wisdom with Couric on everything from how to take chances and follow our passions to coping with criticisms and thinking in terms of something bigger than ourselves. An empowering read for teens and adults alike.

Adult–Non-Fiction:

If You Ask Me (And Of Course You Won’t) is the sixth book written by America’s Darling, Betty White. This book chronicles the last 15 years of her life and readers find that Betty shares everything from her reflections on aging to her new TV show Hot in Cleveland and her recent appearances on Saturday Night Live.  Everybody loves Betty and will want to know about her charities, her views on modern technology (Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail), and reflections on being 89. This is a great glimpse of what it is like to be America's Sweetheart Betty White.
