Grab & Go Kids Planner: Tasty Fund-raiser, Book Sales and the Magic of Reading

Consider these options this week when you plan your family calendar.


Where/When: , 4-10 p.m. Tuesday, March 15.
Why Go: Anchor Bay Band Boosters holds "Taste of the Month" fund-raisers at area restaurants. Tonight it's at Sugarbush Tavern and a portion of whatever you order benefits band activities for the Anchor Bay district.
Pricing: Varies.

Where/When: 35447 23 Mile Rd at Jefferson, three doors down from Curves, in New Baltimore, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. March 17-18, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 19.
Why Go: Buy some books or movies for a great price, and help Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Organizers of the event promise you'll have thousands of items to choose from and plenty of kids' books as well. And if one book and movie sale isn't enough for you, Chesterfield Township Library is also having a sale Friday and Saturday. For more on that, click .

Where/When: , 2-3 p.m. Saturday, March 19.
Why Go: Kids can discover the magic of the written word, part of March is Reading Month. All ages are invited to Chesterfield Township Library to see Ming the Magnificent perform magic drawn from books and reading.

Where/When: Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19.
Why Go: Enjoy a childhood classic, the Lucy Maud Montgomery novel "Anne of Green Gables," brought to life on the stage as a musical.
Pricing: $10, $5 for children 12 and under.


Where/When: Anton Art Center, 125 Macomb Place, Mount Clemens, 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 20.
Why Go: The Anton Art Center is celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday (a few days late) with a Family Fun Workshop. Anyone who loves books or Dr. Seuss is invited to stop in and make bookmarks and other fun projects. Also, while you're at the Art Center, check out the student art on ; teens from dozens of area schools have submitted hundreds of pieces that will be shown at the center through April 10.
Pricing: $3 per person.
