A family from Macomb Township survived the devastating Oklahoma tornado by driving to a friend's house and taking shelter underground, according to a Channel 4 report.
Macomb native Sue Honaker, who moved to Moore two years ago with her husband and their five children, recounted the ordeal to the television station in Detroit.
"It was horrible. People were slipping and sliding. All you could hear was metal crashing and then people screaming," Honaker said.
Although her children are shaken, the family was unharmed and their home was not damaged.
