Make A Difference Day Offers Free Car Seat Inspections, Health Screenings

The 17th annual event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in downtown New Baltimore.

The annual Make A Difference Day in downtown New Baltimore encourages the public to access free health screenings, immunizations and more.

The event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Recreation Center will also feature new activities, such as jaws of life demonstrations by the fire department at the rec center lot and free police car seat safety checks at the old police station on Front Street, according to Councilwoman Florence Hayman.

Attendees will find medical care freebies like flu vaccines, diabetes screenings, blood pressure checks and children vision screening. They will also be treated to a family-friendly environment with pumpkin, food and drink giveaways along with a petting farm.

Additionally, Anchor Bay Bicycle and Fitness will bring its Mobile Bike Shop to offer free bicycle safety checks and safety information. The business will give away a kid’s bike to one winner. Guests are encouraged to bring their bikes to the mobile truck and fill out an entry ticket to win the bicycle. The truck will be parked on Washington between Main and Front streets.

For more information, contact Florence Hayman at 586-725-4690.
