Transformer Problem Prompts Power Outage

Hundreds of DTE Energy customers were without power Monday in Chesterfield Township when a transformer blew, according to fire officials.

Hundreds of DTE Energy customers lost power Monday in Chesterfield when a transformer blew, Fire Chief Doug Charbonneau said.

The incident caused at least 500 outages around 11 a.m. in the 24 Mile and I-94 area. Power was expected to be restored by early evening, according to the DTE Outage Map.

Some area businesses were affected as well. patrons found the restaurant closed Monday afternoon with a sign on the door, stating the business partially lost power.
