AT&T Expands Fast 4G Network to New Baltimore

New cell sites have been activated as part of AT&T's Project VIP Investment.

AT&T has activated three new 4G mobile Internet cell site in New Baltimore that will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses and provide speeds up to four times faster than 3G.

Customers can now enjoy 4G speeds throughout the area, including near 21 Mile and Gratiot and 23 Mile east of I-94.

"Macomb County job makers and families will be connected better than ever before thanks to this local investment from AT&T," said state Sen. Jack Brandenburg, R-Harrison Township. "Faster speeds and innovative new technologies couldn't be more important in today's economy. This is one more tool to help us compete across the state and around the world."

This launch is part of AT&T’s Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is supporting its customers’ growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services.

As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add more than 10,000 macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy more than 40,000 small cells and add more than 1,000 Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density
