End of The Road for Some Local Unpaved Streets
Street-paving projects are slated for this summer and next year in Macomb Township.
Local drivers accustomed to navigating dirt roads will save money on car washes in the near future.
2013 paving projects
Macomb Township Clerk Michael Koehs said Wednesday the township is scheduled to spend $3.8 million this summer to pave gravel stretches of two main roads to asphalt. The Macomb County Road Department will do the work expected to be complete by end of summer.
- 24 Mile between Fairchild and North Avenue
- Fairchild between 21 Mile and 22-1/4 Mile

- 24 Mile between Cracklewood and Foss
- Hayes between 25 Mile and 26 Mile
- Luchtman between 25 and 26 Mile
Connecting streets in the future
The community, which has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, is keeping up with changing times and accommodating residents, Koehs said.
"It will reduce it down to maybe less than six miles of dirt road in the township," he said.

Beyond those upcoming projects, township officials hope to eventually connect Heydenreich and Broughton roads – which are actually the same street that is just not linked at this time, he said.
