Macomb County Man Named Beaumont's 'Rising Star Leader' for 2012

Thomas Lanni was recognized for his leadership as Beaumont's administrative director of Oncology Services.

A Macomb Township resident has been named Beaumont Health System's Rising Star Leader.

Thomas Lanni was one of five employees presented with a President's Award Oct. 10 in recognition of the "magnificent, meaningful work they do," said Beaumont Health System President and CEO Gene Michalski, in a prepared statement.

Lanni, who serves as Beaumont's adminstrative director of Oncology Services, was nominated by his peers for his "positive, compassionate leadership during a time of change," according to a hospital press release.

"I was shocked and humbled to not only to be nominated but also receive the award this year," Lanni said. "It was awarding to know that our professional nurse councils and employee advisory groups felt that I did something that warranted the award."

Michalski presented the awards at Beaumont Recognition Night Oct. 10.
