New Restaurant Gets Cookin' in Downtown New Baltimore

Little Camille's Pizza opened in the former Slippery Rock restaurant space on Washington Street.

Little Camille's Pizza is now serving customers in downtown New Baltimore.

Little Camille's has dished out pizza and sandwiches in Mount Clemens but owners wanted to close the carryout business and transform Little Camille's into a sit-down restaurant in a new place, the former space at 51083 Washington Street.

"We've been looking for a location for years," said Chesterfield Township resident , who also runs Culinary Expressions catering company on North Avenue in Mount Clemens.

Miller said the Chesterfield-New Baltimore area seemed like a good fit.

"We feel it really needed something," said Miller, noting that New Baltimore officials encouraged his move to the historic downtown. "This downtown historic district was really pawing at us."

He said they're in the process of acquiring Slippery Rock.

New Baltimore Planning and Economic Director Judy Sproat said she met with Miller multiple times to discuss setting up his business in the area.

"I'd like to think that when you, as a community, say 'We'd really like you to be here,' that definitely resonates with business owners," Sproat said. "We really are happy to have Mark here."

The Millers are no strangers to New Baltimore. They are members of . During more than 30 years in the catering and restaurant business, he has worked as a chef at in the 1990s and has served as chef of the Mount Clemens Farmers' Market for the past several years.

"My style of cooking is to use fresh ingredients and products that have not been over-processed. I want to invite everyone to stop in and say hi and enjoy a great meal," he said.

Little Camille's has been open since last Tuesday. The service hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Menu items include pizza, salads, pasta, sandwiches, shakes and entrees.
