Tails are wagging with the arrival of a new animal hospital and soon-to-open pet resort and boarding facility in Chesterfield Township.

The Animal Hospital of Chesterfield at 32179 23 Mile Road officially opened for business June 6 and is a full-service veterinary hospital. Vets and support staff work cater to all kinds of schedules, said staff veterinarian Andrea Golombek.

"We're open seven days," Golombek said. "And we're a full-service veterinary hospital."

State-of-the-art equipment, convenient hours and a friendly, knowledgeable staff are what the business strives for. But, that's only the beginning of services offered to pet owners in Chesterfield, New Baltimore and beyond.

An animal day care called Tree Lodge Pet Resort is tentatively scheduled to open in August while the boarding facility is slated to open in September. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is expected to take place at an undetermined date in fall, according to staff.

Obedience classes, along with puppy classes and more, are also slated to be available through Tree Lodge Pet Resort.

Choosing Chesterfield

Chesterfield seemed to the perfect fit for both the hospital and the pet resort, Golombek says.

"With the closure of Anchor Bay Animal Hospital a while back, it left a void in this area, and a real need, too," Golombek said. "There really aren't many animal hospitals in this area at all, and even less pet resorts."

The reception from the community has been great since the animal hospital opened less than two months ago, she said.

"It has really been wonderful."
