Happening This Week: Breast Cancer Fundraiser, Fall Family Festival, Murder-Mystery Dinner and More

Looking for something to fill your activity calendar? Try these suggestions.

Where/When: The Mirage, 16980 18 Mile Road, Clinton Township; 6-10 p.m. Oct. 12.

Why Go: Think pink. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center and the Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center are hosting a very special event, BRAvo Night, to raise awareness for and offer support to those affected by breast cancer. Guests will enjoy appetizers, a BRAtini bar and cocktails, plus two auctions—a silent one featuring the top 12 decorated bras from an online vote, plus a live auction of celebrity autographed bras, which include Kid Rock, Taylor Swift and more.

Why Go: Get ready for fun in the kitchen with Fran Salvatore, back by popular demand. She's a chef from Pamela's Catering, and she'll be doing cooking demonstrations, sharing techniques, and letting everyone sample some goodies.

Why Go: Dine and find out whodunit. The Green Street Tavern is hosting its second murder mystery dinner, "The Witch's Garage." Audience participation is part of the fun.

Pricing: $25 and includes dinner, a drink, tax, tip and a helping of mystery to solve. 

Where/When: , 8 p.m. Oct. 14.

Why Go: The Macomb Symphony Orchestra presents "Delightfully Danish," its annual salute to the music and culture of Denmark. Highlights include Tov med Posten (Twelve by the Post), a ballet by Riisager, inspired by the works of Hans Christian Andersen; an homage to Denmark’s renowned composer Carl Nielsen; and the music of Niels Gade and his Remembrance of Ossian. In addition, authentic Danish folk art and other items will be on display in the lobby. 

Pricing: $18 adults, $15 students and seniors.

Where/When: Anton Art Center, 125 Macomb Place, Mount Clemens; 1-4 p.m. Oct. 16.

Why Go: Free Family Fun returns to Anton Art Center. Families are invited to drop in and take part in two craft projects, with the themes being Ghostly Graveyards and Mask-Making. 

Pricing: Events are free, but the center will accept donations in support of its programming. 

Where/When: , 2-6 p.m. Oct. 16.

Why Go: The New Baltimore Police Officers Association holds its Fall Family Festival, with food, entertainment, games, plus face painting from 2-4 p.m., and a visit from Tootsee the Clown from 2-3 pm. Raffles and silent auctions are planned, and guests can bid on lunch and a ride with New Baltimore Police Officer Tom Johannes. Be sure to bring your camera, as Kuffs, the department's narcotics dog, will make an appearance.

Pricing: No set admission, but donations will be accepted. Proceeds go to the NBPOA, which sponsors local events, charities and police officer bereavement funds.
