Sponge Celebrates New CD at Diesel; Collects Supplies for Detroit Firemen

Detroit rockers Sponge celebrate the national release of their new CD “Stop the Bleeding” (The End Records) at Diesel Concert Lounge (33151 23 Mile Rd., Chesterfield, Michigan) on Friday September 13 with very special guests Bobaflex, Cadre, Bulletproof Snow and Bloodline Riot.  Doors area at 7 pm and all ages are welcome. Tickets are $15 in advance and now available via etix.com or at the Diesel box office. While “Stop the Bleeding” won’t be available nationally until it’s official release date of September 17, at  Diesel, fans will have the opportunity to be among the first to purchase the new disc.

During the show, Sponge will be collecting items for the Detroit Firemen’s Benevolent Fund. The non-profit fund - originally formed to assist families of fallen and disabled firefighters- is currently seeking the following items to distribute among its 60+ Detroit Firehouses – toilet paper, paper towel, cloth dish rags, dish soap, hand sanitizer, anti-bacterial hand soap and dish towels.  Given the City’s financial struggles, Detroit Firehouses are in desperate need of these items for their day-to-day operations.
"The Detroit Firefighters lay their lives on the  line every day doing extremely difficult work in extremely difficult times," explains Vinnie Dombroski, Sponge's lead singer.

2013 has been a banner year for Sponge, who catapulted onto the national music scene in the late 90’s with consecutive hits “Plowed,” “Molly/16 Candles,” and “Have You Seen Mary” in massive rotation on MTV and commercial rock radio. The group just finished a successful stint on the two-month, 40 date Summerland tour, joining other 90’s favorites Everclear, Live and Filter. At the tour’s end, Sponge inked a deal with New York’s The End Records (Danzig, H.I.M.) Sponge’s seventh studio release “Stop the Bleeding” will be unleashed nationally on September 17, 2013.
