‘Operation Send Some Love’ Supports Deployed Troops from 127th Wing at Selfridge

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 112 wants to spread some holiday cheer to about 50 members of Michigan Air National Guard's 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base who are currently deployed overseas, primarily in Southwest Asia and Guam.

Accordingly, the Lodge is encouraging Chesterfield Township residents to join them in filling care-package boxes as part of “Operation Send Some Love.”

Items for the boxes will be received from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 17, at the FOP Lodge, located at 33845 24 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township.

Some of the suggested items include:

• Lotion
• Sunflower seeds
• Pizza Hut and iTunes gift cards
• Pillowcases
• Beef jerky
• Gold Bond-brand foot powder
• Postage stamps
• Holiday cards troops can then send to family members and friends
• Digital picture frames
• Snack-sized baggies, such as Ziplock
• Old Spice body wash
• Vitamins
• Powder drink mixes
• Chapstick or similar products
• AAA batteries
• Recordable books troops can give as gifts to families
• Soup mixes
• Magazines
• Trail mix
