A Mount Clemens soldier and his family will soon have a new home in Macomb Township courtesy of Operation Finally Home.
Dan Wallrath, the founder of Operation Finally Home, Pulte Group representatives and music megastar Kid Rock joined together Aug. 18 to present Army Sgt. Davin Dumar with a free new home, according to The Detroit News.
Operation Finally Home provides custom made mortgage free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen. The organization has built 50 homes in 11 states, with the Dumars selected to receive one of the latest. Kid Rock joined the surprise to offer his own thanks to Dumar for his service.
Dumar, a Lutheran North alumnus, lost a leg and injured his arm during a tour in Afghanistan in 2011.
The Dumar's home is expected to be completed next year, according to The Detroit News.
