HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – L’Anse Creuse High School will hold the tenth annual “Save the Manatee” event  May 18 at Huron-Clinton Lake St. Clair Metropark. The event will be comprised of three different races; the Mini Manatee Mile, the Two Mile Walk, and the 5K Run. Registration is open online until the day of the race at www.everalracemgt.com. Registration fees range from $20 to $30 and all proceeds will go to the Save the Manatee Club. The club was co-founded by singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett and former U.S. Senator and Florida Governor Bob Graham, to fund education projects to help protect manatees and their aquatic habitat and the conservation, rescuing and rehabilitating of manatees.

“What started as a novel idea has grown into an unbelievable passion,” said biology teacher Lesley Argiri. “I love doing this and with the help of students and the community, I am proud that this will be our 10th year hosting the event.”
