Chesterfield Board Approves Police Renovations

The construction project, which will partly be funded by a grant, costs about $146,000.

Chesterfield Township Board of Trustees authorized renovations to the radio and server rooms.

The board voted Monday night to approve the project to a single bidder, Corrado Contracting LLC, for $145,878. It also allocated an extra 10 percent in case further costs arise during the work, township Clerk Jan Uglis said Tuesday.

A $15,457 grant will go toward the project that comes out of the police fund, Uglis said.

Construction is required in the rooms, which are on the second floor of the police station, to protect and maintain valuable equipment by controlling temperatures and humidity, township Police Chief Bruce Smith said.

The rooms contain computerized radio equipment hooked up to township and and fire departments as well as technology for records management, LEIN queries and cameras inside the building.
