Caller: You Won Money; Now Take Me to Bank

The caller told the man in late August they could go to the homeowner's bank together to cash the check. Suspecting the call was from a would-be thief, the resident agreed to meet the man at his home so police could catch him.

A woman reported scrap metal stolen from underneath a tarp in her driveway at her manufactured home in the 22 Mile and Fairchild area, police said.

The theft, which took place around 4 p.m. Aug. 29, included her shovel, tin cans, pet cage, table and other scrap items she planned to turn in for money. A groundskeeper at the subdivision told police he saw a man in his 30s drive by in a pickup, looking inside Dumpsters for scrap around the same time, police said.

The groundskeeper did not witness the man take anything from the woman's property but told police he suspected him in the theft. He did not have the man's license plate number, police said.
