Four Detroit Men Arrested After Chesterfield CVS Robbery

The suspects were apprehended following a chase onto Interstate 94.

Four Detroit men were arraigned Tuesday in connection to an unarmed robbery at a Chesterfield Township drugstore and subsequent police chase last weekend, township police said.

At approximately 12:25 p.m. Saturday, an employee at CVS Pharmacy on 23 Mile and Callens called 911 to report two males passed him a note, demanding cigarettes from the store, according to Sgt. Deron Myers.

The employee and another witness in the store gave police a description of the suspects and the blue 2002 Chevy Impala they left in. Police attempted to stop the car as headed eastbound on 23 Mile from Sass, but the driver refused to pull over, Myers said.

Police followed the car as it went from 23 Mile to eastbound I-94 before exiting at New Haven Road and then onto the westbound I-94 ramp. As the car went down the ramp, a police vehicle made contact with it and the Impala spun onto the shoulder, police said.

The suspects, who were surrounded, were taken into custody without incident. Police said they recovered $1,526.97 worth of cigarettes stolen from CVS.

All four suspects were charged with unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony, in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore and held on $20,000 cash bonds. According to police, they are:

  • Antoine Burton, 23
  • Joseph Thompson, 23
  • Christopher Robbins, 23
  • Ruemondo Murray, 24
Burton was also charged with fleeing and eluding police, possession of marijuana and operating on a suspended license, police said.
