Police Identify Driver in Fatal I-94 Crash

The three-vehicle crash shut down the freeway at Metro Parkway Tuesday afternoon.

Police identified the motorist in Tuesday's fatal crash on Interstate 94 as a 49-year-old Mount Clemens man.

William Weaver was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens after the accident, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the crash that took place around 2:16 p.m. when Weaver merged from Metro Parkway onto the freeway, crossing over all three lanes. His 1987 Chrysler New Yorker struck another vehicle before hitting the center median barrier before another vehicle crashed into it. He was not wearing a seat belt, the Sheriff's Office said.

Motorists were directed off the freeway onto Metro Parkway in Harrison Township as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
