Hearing Delayed to May 28 for Chesterfield Man Charged in Fatal Highland Park Crash

Jeremy Sherman-Gill Yancey of Chesterfield Township was arraigned last month on three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of operating while impaired causing death and reckless driving causing death.

A preliminary hearing for a Chesterfield Township man charged with second-degree murder in a deadly car crash in Highland Park was adjourned Tuesday.

Jeremy Sherman-Gill Yancey will have a preliminary hearing on May 28 at 11:30 a.m., according to a statement from Maria Miller of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Highland Park police said Yancey was driving drunk when his car crashed into a van and killed three people.

Yancey was arraigned last month on three counts of second-degree murder, three counts of operating while impaired causing death and reckless driving causing death.

If convicted, the second-degree murder charge carries a sentence of up to life in prison. The charges of operating while impaired causing death and reckless driving causing death are punishable by up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
