Credit Union Donates Money to Police Reserves

Christian Financial Credit Union in Chesterfield Township presented New Baltimore Police Department with a $3,000 check.

Christian Financial Credit Union in Chesterfield Township presented a $3,000 check to the department, Chief Tim Wiley said.

The money will pay for bullet proof vests for three police reserves. Those reserves, who are finishing the modified police academy at Macomb Community College, are scheduled to be sworn into the force May 14 during a city council meeting, Wiley said.

With their addition, there will be seven reserve officers in the unit.

The donation comes from the credit union that has many New Baltimore customers. Vice President of Sales and Service Michael Awwad also lives in the city, the chief said.
