Longtime Chesterfield Golf Classic May End This Year Without Volunteer Organizer
The 20th annual Police & Fire golf outing will take place Saturday, Aug. 13, at Salt River Golf Course at 9 a.m.
The popular Chesterfield Police and Fire Golf Classic is going on its 20th year, but organizers need someone to take over the fundraiser next year or the tradition will end.
The 20th annual Chesterfield Police and Fire Golf Classic, scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 13, brings together local merchants, residents and employees to . It has developed over the years into a strong promotion of community involvement and serves as a means to provide funds and donations to local charities.
The golf classic has been made possible over the last two decades by Sergeant Robert Finazzo of and his brother, retired firefighter Vince Finazzo of . However, this will be the brothers' last year as chairmen, both agreeing that they want to want to participate in the event rather than acting as hosts.

“We’re hopeful that someone will volunteer to host the outing, but in the event that this doesn’t happen, then it looks like the 20th year will be the final year,” said Vince Finazzo.
The 2011 Classic is expected to sell out this year, with 160 golfers hitting the greens, along with approximately 20 more for a special dinner.

All money raised from the event will benefit local charities such as Shop with a Cop, Thin Blue Line, The Giving Tree, Miss Chesterfield Pageant, Burn Center and the Special Olympics. In better economic times, the event generally brought in more than $10,000, but this year, about $5,000 to $7,000 is anticipated.
Prizes will be awarded for Hole in One, Closest to Pin, Long Drive and a Putting Contest.
