Macomb Woman Dies After Crushed by Vehicle in Chesterfield

A 36-year-old Macomb Township woman was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident early Saturday morning in Chesterfield.

In a freak accident that initially started as help from a good Samaritan, a 36-year-old Macomb Township woman died Saturday in Chesterfield Township, police said.

Around 3 a.m. Saturday, a 24-year-old Clinton Township man stopped to assist the woman who drove her car into a ditch at Sugarbush and Cotton, Chesterfield Township police said.

But, as he was attempting to tow her car out, his vehicle slid down the ditch, pinning her between the two vehicles, police said.

The man frantically placed a 911 call and police and fire units were able to separate the vehicles to free the woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Her name was not immediately released, pending the notification of family.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident. It has not been determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role, they said.
