Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Chesterfield Township

A 22-year-old Chesterfield Township man is listed in critical condition after he was hit by a car on 24 Mile Road on Monday night.

A 22-year-old Chesterfield Township man is on life support after he was hit by a car Monday night on 24 Mile Road just west of Gratiot Avenue, police said Tuesday.

Police had received a call Monday at 9 p.m. reporting that a man was walking in the middle of the roadway on 24 Mile, according to a statement from Chesterfield Township police.

As officers responded to the report, police received another call saying that the man had been struck by a vehicle.

When Chesterfield police arrived on the scene, they found the man unconscious in the road. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Chesterfield Township woman, told police she never saw the pedestrian as she traveled eastbound on 24 Mile Road.

Chesterfield police said the man was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police said neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in the accident.
