A 20-year-old Macomb Township pedestrian suffered serious injuries after he was struck Wednesday by a vehicle near the Interstate 94 overpass in Harrison Township, police said.

At approximately 1:38 a.m., a 21-year-old Mount Clemens woman reported to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office that she struck someone lying on Metro Parkway near the freeway overpass, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling westbound on Metro Parkway when she noticed something in the roadway. When she realized it was a person, she was unable to brake in time and hit the man, reporting the incident right after. It was not immediately clear why the pedestrian was lying on the road, the Sheriff's Office said.
