Police Release Name of Rochester Hills Man Found in Anchor Bay

An autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office released the name Friday of a 57-year-old Rochester Hills man found in Anchor Bay Thursday afternoon.

The man has been identified as Scott Gordon and an autopsy is being performed to determine his cause of death. 

"Following an investigation by members of the Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau, it is believed that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the incident," the Sheriff's Office stated in a Friday morning news release.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call around 12:30 p.m. Thursday that a body was in the water near the Lakeview Motel in the 10100 block of Dixie Highway in Ira Township. The Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Coast Guard and Ira Township Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. 

"The man was found in about 4 feet of water. He had checked into the motel on Sunday and was last seen Wednesday night," according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.

Police initially said the man was 58, but said Friday his correct age was 57.
