Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Suspect Shown Stealing Semi-Automatic Handgun

The suspect is shown on surveillance video reaching into the display case, taking the gun, concealing it in the front of his jacket and leaving the store.

Chesterfield Township police are asking the public’s help in identifying a suspect shown on surveillance videotape stealing a Springfield semi-automatic 9mm handgun from Dunham’s Sporting Goods, 51328 Gratoit Ave. about 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, according to a news release.

The suspect, a white male, is believed to be 50 years old or older, bald and wearing a black waist-length coat and black jeans.

While employees were busy and away from the display counter, the suspect reached into the display case and took the gun, concealed it in the front of his jacket and left the store, the video shows.
