Suspect in Meijer's Robbery Arraigned, Held on $25,000 Bond

The suspect, who was unarmed, demanded money and fled, but was apprehended a short time later at an area restaurant.

A 50-year-old China Township man who robbed a Chesterfield Meijer’s store of an undisclosed amount of money was arraigned Monday on robbery charges and is being held on $25,000 cash bond.

Chesterfield police said the suspect, Frank Rossi, entered the Meijer’s store at 27255 23 Mile Road about 12:30 p.m. Saturday and passed a note to the clerk demanding money. He was not armed.

Officers from both the Chesterfield Township Police Department and Macomb County Sheriff’s Department immediately saturated the area as a Chesterfield patrol unit reviewed surveillance video and broadcast a description of the the suspect, Chesterfield Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said in a news release.

A short time later, Rossi was located at Gus’s Coney Island on Gratoit south of 23 Mile Road.

Rossi was arraigned via video in 42-2 Court in New Baltimore on one count of unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony.
