Three Men Arrested in Break-in Spree

Chesterfield Township police arrest the Macomb Township men without incident.

Three Macomb Township men were arraigned Thursday on charges they broke into vehicles and one occupied home, said Friday.

According to township police, Elijah Hill, 18, Deandre Smith, 18, and Mitchell Hickson, 17, were arraigned Thursday via video from Macomb County Jail in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore on charges of receiving and concealing stolen property worth more than $1,000 and breaking and entering a vehicle.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department also obtained warrants Friday for the suspects on charges of home invasion, larceny from automobiles and conspiracy to commit larceny from automobiles, according to Chesterfield Township police Detective Sgt. Deron Myers.

At 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, residents in the Mary and Gratiot area of Chesterfield Township called 911 to report that three people were breaking into cars. When officers responded to the incident, the suspects began fleeing on foot. They were found behind the Travis restaurant on Gratiot near 21 Mile, police said.

The police investigation revealed the suspects allegedly spent the night breaking into cars in Chesterfield, Macomb and Clinton townships. They are accused of breaking into an occupied house while the homeowners slept to steal several undisclosed items in Macomb Township.

Chesterfield detectives have obtained property that allegedly was stolen in the area. Anyone missing items that were taken overnight Tuesday is asked to call 586-949-4324.
