Woman Smelling of Booze, Vomit Drove in Wrong Direction on 23 Mile

Witnesses report wrong-way driver 


A 22-year-old Ray Township woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of drunken driving after she was spotted going the wrong direction on 23 Mile in Chesterfield Township, according to police. 

Witnesses called 911 to say the driver was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of the busy road around 2 a.m. Police said they stopped her as she turned back around, driving in the right direction on 23 Mile near Sass, police reported, adding she smelled of intoxicants and vomit.

Her blood-alcohol level was .11 percent--above the state's legal limit of .08 percent for driving, police said. 

Man hides baggie in pants 

A 22-year-old Chesterfield Township man was arrested Thursday afternoon for outstanding felony probation violation charges and marijuana possession, according to police. 

Police pulled over the man at 23 Mile and Metzen for driving with a vision obstruction in his front windshield. During the traffic stop, the officer learned the man was wanted for several probation violations. While searching him, a baggie of suspected marijuana fell out of his pant leg, police said. 

Lawnmower thief on lam

A homeowner on the 28300 block of Timothy reported Wednesday that his red Toro push mower was stolen around 6:30 p.m.

The resident said he left the lawnmower on the grass between the sidewalk and the street to get garbage bags for the grass clippings. When he returned soon after, it was gone, police said.
