Brief: New Baltimore City Hall May Shift Office Space

Once City Council meetings move to the new cop shop, the unused room may become offices.

With plans to relocate New Baltimore City Council meetings to the new police station, there may be some shuffling inside .

Mayor Larry Smith said he'd like to spread out the offices to utilize the soon-to-be vacated space. Ideally, he and Administrative Assistant Marc Levise would move their offices into the unused room, creating more workspace for Clerk Marcia Shinska and other city employees.

The tentative plans are in light of setting up shop this summer in the former Citizens Bank Lending and Operation Center on Green Street. That would leave the current waterfront station empty for new business. Among the possibilities for that station are replacing it with condominiums or live-work spaces, Smith said.
